Hairy Crabs and more Craps !!
Hey hey, this is the season for hairy crabs and I've blasted around $8 per crab just to keep the economy going strong.
Firstly,these crabs are seasonal which means you dun catch them off kallang basin or get them from markets.You can only get them from the friendly people at Cold Storage and do get them
live,frozen crabs just erm..taste crappy...The crabs, tightly bounded, let me lighten their pain before they die..
Moments later..............
The crabs untied,but concentrate only on me and not the hit-by-a-hurricane background behind.....
The magic to steaming live crabs and not letting them run about if to smear some oil from onions on their eyes...(Sounds cruel ?? You'll going to eat them anyway...) This will ensure they stay there till the cooking ends, instead of them scampering about when the temperature starts to rise....
There,after that you can place the onions in the middle for the first 15 mins of steaming,remove it as it will tarnish the freshness of the crabs..
And remember to use those ancient steel plates, those coated with paint and if the paint drops off, that part will rust...Y ? Becos my grandma said so....

THE FINISHED PRODUCT !!
Serve hot or chilled with lotsa vinegar and ginger strips...By the way, after removing the onion, replace with garlic, ginger and sesame oil and some Hua Diao wine...

The selection for the best curry chicken served with pilaf rice, sauteed vegetables and chicken consomme......
Breaded fish fingers served with tartare sauce, boiled macedoine carrots and fries.
As mentioned above, with the chilled melon soup...made of honeydew and cantelope melons...heavenly......
My apologies for the very very disappearance and not updating my blogs, apart from cooking, I am very much involved in the selection of next Singapore's Idol....and I'm not talking about auditions, you see, Singapore Idol is a very much fixed contest, if someone like Taufik could get it,why couldnt I ?

would like to try ur steam hairy crab...but i still i can't believe by using the onion's juice it can cause the crab to stop moving ard..tat's sth new...
haha...it is and it works,thats y my crabs still remain nicely plated
