G.C.C. (Good Chinese Cuisine)

Great Singapore Sale going on,but what about restaurants with good food.My favourite haunt used to be Crystal Jade after shopping. From la-mian to suckling pig,its good and at affordable prices, but recently,I've been more intrested to conquer Tung Lok's seventeen resturants..
Tung Lok is a massive food empire boasting of some of the best restaurants in Singapore, its decor and ambience is uncomparable.

Charming Gardens @ Copthrone Orchid Hotel. This place serves Hunan cuisine and one of my dad's favourite..thus the frequency in this place.
House Specialities:
1)The Pigeon soup served in bamboo containers---Ok nia I think.
2) Stir-fry spicy pork with chilli----Chilli leaves a different taste in your mouth, with pork makes it a very good rice dish.
3) The famous bean-curd skin wrapped in egg skin.----very similar to peking duck, except bean-curd skin is used instead of duck.Nice.
And there's this oldies bar just across the restaurants, churning out wonderful chinese oldies that took Singapore by storm in the 70's and 80's..

Club Chinois @ Orchard Parade Hotel: If you're looking for modern chinese cuisine, this is your place, but personally,I dont like this place too much but the weekend brunch is worth eating..buffet spread not very impressive but still acceptable..
J

ade @ Fullerton Hotel: One of the top-ranged eats in Singapore,be expected to blast around $200plus for 2 pax..BUT its worth it,firstly my idol,Sam Leong, director of kitchens for tung lok is there...and his food is just heavenly..XO sauce is quite commonly used here, thus the more pricey tags.Worth trying is the Cream of Avocado infused with Chinese Yam accompanied with Latte Ice cream, you cant taste this anywhere and better than any of the desserts offered by Mezza9@Hyatt.Reservations very much needed...Service level is at the highest..

Lao Bejing @ Novena Square,Plaza Singapura.A serious contender for Crystal Jade, some food inside are actually replicas of Crystal Jade.Their Peking duck is great,if you never tried mixed sauce noodle(Zha Jiang Mian),you can try theirs, serving just right..and the sauce not too rich..One of the best zha jiang mian I tried. And their popiah, but its only in servings for 4 paxs,so get your kakis along...Price still reasonable..but beware, the staff at Novena keep breaking their porcelain,I experienced it twice and my sister also saw it the last time she went....

The Humble House @ Esplanade: Another brainchild of Sam Leong, you'll really feel pampered just by the decor alone, its the kinda Zen setting which I like very much. And the names of dishes will make you want to try everything on the menu.Worth trying is the double boiled seafood soup in coconut.this is the best place for lunches, its set lunches menu are unique and doesnt actually cause a (very big) hole in your wallet, highly recommended..

Space@ My Humble House(beside humble house, refer to above):A small eatery with the concept of those sushi bars in Japan, try their chef's tasting menu, include a meal and dessert,at around +-$25..Worth stopping for a quick meal. This place is always packed..sian..

Noble House@ UIC building: I've not been here for a long time, but my sister did takeway some things for me to try recently,of the 4 dishes she let me try,I especially liked the fried rice with crab meat..it has a very faint buttery taste in it,but I'm sure no butter was used in the cooking,hmm...still gotta ponder more into this..Ala carte is not very advisable here, take the set menu, its more affordable and you can feed a platoon with it.

Paddy Fields Thai Restaurant @ Anchorpoint:Try the thai dessert buffet, didnt really try much of the main course cos my favourite thai restaurant is still Lemongrass..

Teahouse @ China Square:A place for dim-sum,not my cup of tea though, dont like eating at here..dont know why, prefer Kelong88 at thomson plaza for their dimsum..

Tung Lok Seafood Gallery @ East Coast: Only place in Singapore with the freshest raw seafood bar..Nothing woth mentioning, raw food tastes about the same.

Thats it,some of the restaurants I got quite negative feedback, but I will still try one day..Remember food does not come easily, dont waste and dont take beer while eating,it will actually spoil the taste of the food.Wine is still acceptable, but I believe taking water is the best, makes you eat more and burp less....Tong Lok is having a promotion,$50 voucher for every $100 spent.SIA passengers get a 15% discount on ala-carte menu, valid within 7 days from your tickets..SIA passengers only, not valuair, tiger airways or silkair...
