Graceful Country ?? What for ?
Alot of reports recently on the courtesy test done by Readers' Digest, suggesting that Singaporeans do not even hold the door for others.....period...
Whats their problem and whats our problem for such a huge reaction? Everyone seem to be patrotic by standing together and rebutting that we are not a graceless society...Its stupid..why even bother arguing?
Everyone in the world is rude, everyone, including religious leaders...Its how we define rudeness and politeness.
Lets look into this scenario, you have been a waiter for about half of your life, you one day got the opportunity to be able to serve at a G7 Summit meeting. Remember you've been a waiter for a long time, you serve the leaders, some say thank you and some dont, some are busy in their own thoughts. You should not mind as you've come across such guests almost everyday in your life.
I beg to differ, being polite comes from within, not from forcefulness, you dont have to jump on the bandwagon just becos your friends are rude. So what even if you're the leaders of the most powerful countries in the world ? I'm earning my keep serving you, not because I enjoy serving ya, but becos its my job to do it. So whether you express any intentions to me, will not make my work easier, plates wont seem lighter, food scraps remains the same.
I dont shun a country because the people are rude, I dont pay for flights to go for countries with the most gracefulness...

BUT
If every leader stops to acknowledge your service, you would feel so happy and pride comes in to take over your bo chap attitude, you start to serve even more diligently....so ? This is happiness from acknowledgement, not because they are polite....
I dont shun a country because the people are rude, I dont pay for flights to go for countries with the most gracefulness...
BUT
I do shun shops with lousy service, like the Burger King joint below OCBC, Cadele Bakery Deport at Suntec, Macdonalds Delivery and the list goes on......so what if a certain place been awarded Service Excellence in Gold or Star ?? Its a representation of that person upbringing, not the organisation efforts, no one can induce politeness into another...
Anyway stop the rubbish about all this tests and rankings...we should have a list for the shops with slowest service and bad bad attitude...Thats what it matters, country rankings...I dont see how it affects me......
Even those idiots that gives out leaflets, so just shove them in your face even when you dont outstretch your hands or signal any intention of wanting one, or those that cause the litter all around void decks letter boxes with their stupid advertisments..
Once my door wasnt closed, and this guy just came by and threw some Christanity leaflets into my house, i opened the door and threw back in his face, dont ever treat my house as your dumping ground, and respecting my religion, when I have such a big image of Guan Yin Ma looking at you....
Singaporeans arent rude, we just dont give a damn...
